General Electric Lighting together with CCG Energy Solutions recently upgraded Cuyahoga Valley Career Center’s lighting equation to result in efficient quality lighting and low energy and recycling costs. The two million, six hundred thousand overhaul included revamping of the school’s campus outdoor GE Evolve LED Area Lights, rooftop bright lighting with automated dimming and high powered fluorescent lights that use Ultramax bulbs and Watt –Miser long life lighting throughout the building. Moreover, $200,000 has been saved from the computerization and installation of HVAC controls, lighting upgrades and mechanization of the improvements.

The campus’ 215,000 square foot parking lot, sidewalks and long parkway received dramatic renovations with bright light while reducing energy usage, dumping expenses and light contamination.

The original 400-watt and 250-watt bulbs were converted into Evolve LEDs which produce fifty-two percent in power reduction and supply a ten year warranty which is four times the suggested service period for a regular High Intensity Discharge system.

Mary Beth Gotti, manager of the GE Lighting and Electric Institute said the new LEDs transmit light well and this means less absorbed visible radiation and upgraded use for a great impact on a property‘s look, protection and walker sight.

The fluorescent fixtures and top notch heavy lighting of the campus buildings were improved. Also, the joining of UltraMax bulbs and power dependable T8 Watt-Miser lights provide efficient performance and economic benefit of up to forty percent out of regular T12 machines.

The elevated five thousand Kelvin lights also provide radiant output and give a perfect, clear light that is mandatory to the educational scene.

Gotti also said that schools need lighting that permit creativeness and power dependability. She also said that GE’s lighting technology assists mercury dumping and meets decreasing of trash which helps schools get efficient lights to increase education for students and employees while at the same time eliminate wastage, reduce power usage and improve the surroundings and profitability.
